Hear the stories of several of the residents of Charlotte County, as they describe their experiences with Hurricane Charley, and their satisfaction—in fact, delight—with how well their manufactured homes stood up to the storm.

Rod and Janet Sparks
"Our home is intact, and we'd buy another one in a minute..."

Tom and Carol Trakas

When Hurricane Charley came ashore with 145 mph winds, the manufactured home community of Ventura Lakes, in Punta Gorda, stood right astride the storm's path. Ventura Lakes would face the most destructive storm to hit the United States since the infamous Hurricane Andrew.

When it was over, Ventura Lakes stood almost undamaged, the clear winner in the battle between man and nature. Other structures were not so fortunate: on either side of the community, site-built structures suffered extensive damage.

See the video of Ventura Lakes' triumph over Hurricane Charley, and find out the truth about the best-built homes in America.
